New

• PR pad: a third pad mode with a signed speed axis. Drag past zero to play the track backwards or hold it at zero to freeze. The axis reaches up to 4x. PITCH LOCK holds the pitch steady while the speed moves and SNAPBACK springs the speed back home when you let go.
• Configurable jump: jump by seconds or by beats, by the amount you choose. Preferences → Playback.
• Visual presets included: the projectM visualizer now ships with a preset of its own so it shows something the first time you open it. Your own preset folder is added on top.
• Tempo detection preference: tell the BPM detector what music you play most and close calls go to the nearer tempo. Nothing is ruled out. Preferences → Playback.

Improved

• Beat grids now land on the first beat of tracks that open with a long lead-in.
• The beat LED follows the beat at any playback speed and in reverse. It used to flash on every second beat at double speed.
• Both pads now label their tempo and pitch steps.
• The visualizer no longer changes preset on a timer unless you turn shuffle on.

Fixed

• Updating from inside the app now shows real progress and tells you how it went. The bar used to sit at zero.
• Deleting several tracks at once could start playing one of them.
• The window title and the desktop panel showed the file name instead of RAWKONTROL.
• The pitch readout could run off its space in cents mode and kept the old unit until the pitch moved again.
• The media controls in the desktop panel could stop following the track position. The player could also stay listed after the app was closed.
• Quiet tracks were given a tempo but no beat grid. They are now analyzed at a working level.
• Re-analyzing cleared the old BPM only at the very end. The playlist row and the main readout now blank at the start and follow the new value when it arrives.
• Checking for updates failed to reach the server on some systems and secure downloads could not start at all.
• Opening the visualizer could close the player on machines that render without a graphics card.
• Dropping a new file onto a track already in the playlist kept showing the old tempo.

New

• Visualizer resolution: render the projectM visualizer at 100%, 75%, 50% or 25% of the window size for smoother playback on slower machines. Preferences → Visualizer.
• Desktop integration: Help → Desktop integration adds RAWKONTROL to the applications menu and installs a rawkontrol terminal command. The same entry removes them again.
• Choose what happens when you open a file from outside: files sent from a file manager or a terminal can replace the playlist, be appended to it, or ask every time. Preferences → Playback.
• Fine BPM editing on the pad: hold Ctrl and drag on the 2D pad to adjust a track's base BPM without changing playback. Ctrl+Shift snaps to whole BPM.

Improved

• The visualizer now runs on projectM 4. It handles more presets.
• The download is about 35 MB smaller, and so are updates.

Fixed

• RAWKONTROL could fail to start at all on many systems, showing the splash screen and then quitting. It now uses the graphics libraries your system provides.
• Switching from the spectrum to the projectM visualizer could crash the app.
• Selecting the projectM visualizer with no presets installed showed a message that read like an error. It now says what is missing. Picking it again retries.
• .opus files could not be picked in File → Open, even though they played fine when added from a folder. Adding a folder now also picks up .mp4 files.
• The visualizer ignored the framerate cap set in Preferences.

New

• In-app updater: Help → Check for updates downloads and installs new versions in place. It only fetches the parts that changed.
• Auto-fit layout: the window can now be resized freely and picks the best layout for its size. Toggle it in Layout → Dynamic layout (auto-fit).
• Open files from the command line: pass tracks or URLs when launching. A starting pitch, tempo or key can come with them.
• Single-instance launch: opening a file when RAWKONTROL is already running hands it to the existing window instead of starting a second copy.
• Cue drag-and-drop: reorder cue points by dragging one pad onto another.
• Beat count indicator: an optional 2/4-count beat column in the HiFi view.
• Update yt-dlp: a button in the web-playback settings to refresh yt-dlp on demand.

Improved

• Better BPM detection on fast tracks. They were sometimes reported at a slower tempo.
• The beat LED now flashes on the beat you actually hear. Its flash length follows the tempo.
• Tidier playlist panel: refined card spacing, alignment and rounded corners.
• Italian translation covers the updater.

Fixed

• MP3 seeking could sound wrong on audio devices not running at 44.1 kHz.
• Switching visualizer type no longer jumps away from the Visualizer tab.
• Beat grids are now always saved once analysis finishes.
• The visualizer no longer shows a stretched frame when resizing while paused.
• The pinned visualizer or cover tab is remembered across layout changes.
• Deleting the last track left stale artist and album text on screen.
